whoa

At the urging of Rachel and my boredom, I've decided to update this blog.

I haven't been on here for awhile, but I didn't have to dust off too many cobwebs. Lately, I've gotten back into playing music after a two-month hiatus. It's like riding a bike. I just got back on and it felt natural.

Things I've been doing lately:

School- I registered for classes the other day. I was scheduled to register at 11am on Wednesday. Thanks to KU's lack of capacity on their Online Student Services server, I couldn't get on to register until 4pm.

Food- I've been cooking a lot and making a lot of interesting dishes.

Drink- I've been trying different beers. Some good, some bad

Relationships- I've been spending a lot of quality time with Rachel. I'm in love.

!!!

This past weekend, well, more like Friday night, was one of the best nights I've ever had. I was down in Kutztown for the night for the first time in awhile. It was great to see Rachel, I missed her so much. Good times were had at the pub, as always. I'm so happy the two of us worked out our differences...we're back together again. I love that girl :)

I'm coming down to Kutztown again this weekend, so I'm sure plenty of good times will be had again.

Helping out the environment.

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1881646,00.html?iid=perma_share

I read this article today in the most recent issue of Time Magazine today. I think it's interesting that Denmark, such a small country, is the model for what other nations should do to help the environment. I think this is awesome.

Allentown = Lame

For years, I've been thinking that Allentown is probably one of the lamest places to live. What is there to do here in this once booming city? NOTHING. Center city Allentown, which, decades ago, used to be consumed with numerous retail establishments, venues for the arts, and amazing restaurants now appears to be a ghost town. I mean, Allentown Symphony Hall is still located there, as well as the Allentown Brew Works, but other than that, there's nothing. I'm so sick of this place. I'm sick of the Lehigh Valley in general. I want to move to a large city. I don't care if it's expensive. I don't care if I can only afford to live in a soup can. I want to get out of here and relocate to some other place. I want live where I can be exposed to different culture, art, and music. GET ME OUT OF HERE.

Spring break? No.

Let's see, what have I done the past few days?

-I watched seasons 1 and 2 of Heroes over a two day period.
-I finally watched 3:10 to Yuma. Such a good movie.
-Saw The Watchmen yesterday. That movie was much different than I expected.

So, yeah, this is what I've done.

I'm still loving that girl :)

mmmhmmm

Today was just another day in the neighborhood. Watched some movies today- Hitman, Max Payne, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and The Strangers. Yeah, I know, "Colin, how do you have that much time?!" Well, it's Spring Break and I don't have shit to do. It was just one of those sit around, relax, and do nothing kind of days. It was awesome.

I downloaded Bring Me the Horizon's album "Count Your Blessings" today. I'm rocking out to that right now.

I've got my eye on a cutie ;)

Santigold was the musical guest last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Check this out, this is her performing the song "Shove It."

things

The past few days, I've had this feeling of absolute content. I went to the doctor for my post-op appointment yesterday and he said everything is looking good. He even gave me the clear to start drinking beer again! Additionally, Rachel and I have been talking and working things out. I love that girl :) Other than the things mentioned above, I really have nothing else to write.

I'm excited to go see Watchmen on Friday, it should be good.

One Day as a Lion

I'm really enjoying Zack de la Rocha's new project with Jon Theodore called One Day as a Lion. Their music sounds like classic Rage Against the Machine. About a month ago, I was driving, listening to Sirius Radio and heard the song "One Day as a Lion" by One Day as a Lion (yes, they have a song titled the same as their band name), but thought it was a new RATM song. I just miss this music, it's so energetic and raw. I'd say it's worth checking out.

For the first time in eight years, I actually believe and trust what the president has to say.

c'mon, music! c'mon monotany!

I desperately need to find some new music to listen to. I need to find new music to play. Damn, I can't wait to start playing again...damn surgery.

I miss seeing my friends everyday. I'm so sick of waking up and doing the same thing everyday. At least before I had to go for surgery I would live a life of variety at Kutztown. Everything just seems so monotonous. Don't get me wrong, I like being able to relax and recover at home, and the visits from friends are nice, but I'm starting to get restless. Whatever, only a few more weeks and then I can start driving again, which means I'll be able to go down to school and see people. I guess there really is no point in complaining, things could be worse.

lies

How can you fucking sit there and lie to my face? How can you have the audacity to get mad at ME when I catch YOU in a lie? Grow the fuck up. The real world doesn't work like that. Hell, maybe your perception of reality is just that fucked up...I wouldn't be surprised if it was. GROW THE FUCK UP.

douche

I hate Bill O'Reilly. DOUCHE BAG

?

I really don't think I'm going to be posting a long, thought-provoking blog everyday. I'm sure every now and then something will chap my ass so much that I'll need to rant for hours upon hours, but for now I'm pretty content. I want beer.

I want a case of this. So good, surprisingly.

you liked being in the hospital?

I had to go in for a major surgery about two weeks ago and this may sound weird, but being in the hospital for five days was actually pretty nice. Now, don't get me wrong, when I found out I had to have surgery I was terrified and angry because my life and all of my plans for the next few months were ruined. I was lined up to play in Greece with the KU Percussion Ensemble as well as play at Lincoln Center with the Wind Ensemble. Because of the surgery, I had to throw all of this away. I had to file for a leave of absence for the semester, leaving my friends and putting my academics on hold. I was PISSED. However, after I had the surgery, I was sitting in the hospital thinking, "You know, this situation is shitty, but you have to take the good with the bad." Also, I took the time to sort out my priorities. I was so fucking sick of having my life cluttered with stress over things/people that really don't matter. Even more, I came to the realization that while I had to give up certain opportunities, I will have other chances. This post may be very stream of consciousness, but I feel like I've gone through somewhat of a system restore. I'm feeling good and can't complain.

well, this is new.

I can't believe I've started a blog. Once the whole Xanga phase was over, I swore I wouldn't blog ever, but alas, here I am. I need something to get my thoughts out. So, here it is. I'll be posting more as time goes on.
